Supporting Swansboro High School’s FCA
There’s something special happening at Swansboro High School, and it’s more than just school pride—it’s a movement. The FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) club brings together over 200 teens every week, and let me tell you, it’s not just about the Bible study—it’s about empowering these teens to lead, disciple, and build each other up in a world that needs it more than ever.
We met in the school courtyard at 6 PM, and it felt like the heart of the school came alive. Kicking things off, we were blessed with an amazing acoustic worship session, led by a talented young lady whose voice gave us chills. There’s something about worship in the open air that just hits differently. You could feel the unity and the faith in every note.
But hey, it’s FCA—we mix faith with fun. We played an intense round of schoolyard games, competing for those highly-coveted ribbons. And Cheyenne? She introduced us to her version of the 500m relay race, which was equal parts competitive and hilarious to watch. Seriously, if you weren’t laughing, you weren’t paying attention!
Of course, no FCA meet is complete without some good eats. We feasted on pizza from Pizza Hut (because carbs fuel the spirit, right?) and indulged in cupcakes from Luna Café, which were chef’s kiss perfect.
Then there’s Pastor Stan. This guy always shows up ready to bring the Word in a way that’s so real and relatable for the teens. His messages cut through the noise and speak directly to where these teens are at—no fluff, just truth. It’s no wonder the FCA keeps growing!
One of the most inspiring things about the FCA is watching these teens step into leadership roles. It’s not just adults guiding the way—these students are discipling each other, stepping up to lead worship, plan events, and encourage their peers. They’re living out what it means to be followers of Christ, right where they are.
And the teachers who support the FCA? They are making massive waves in the lives of our local youth. Imagine over 200 teens coming together each week for Bible study, led by passionate teachers who pour into them spiritually. It’s a ripple effect that’s changing lives, one student at a time.
Supporting the FCA isn’t just about showing up. It’s about being part of something bigger than ourselves. It’s about backing these teens as they grow in their faith, as they learn what it means to lead, and as they disciple to one another. The future of faith in our community starts here, and it’s so exciting to watch it unfold.
Whether you’re a parent, a student, or a community member, there are so many ways to support the FCA. From donating resources to showing up at events to simply praying for these teens and their journey—it all makes a difference.
